Agnes Loonstra (1987) is a freelance illustrator currently living in Utrecht, the Netherlands. She has drawn for a large variety of clients since 2012 in her studio in ‘de Vechtclub XL’; a hotspot for designers in Utrecht.

Throughout her wide range of work – from editorial illustrations, birth announcement cards and murals to album covers, educational illustrations and animations – you will always be able to discern Agnes’ illustrations due to her recognizable distinctive cut-and-paste drawing style, using bold colour palettes ranging from happy and bright to dark and striking.

In an often light-hearted, yet at times serious, manner, Agnes likes to focus on all those things in life that making living worthwhile and shines a light on life’s little interactions we have with family, friends, pets and even strangers. You cannot help but wanting to jump into the scene and cuddle with a cat, drink a glass of wine or cycle past the canals of Amsterdam!

Besides her activities as an illustrator Agnes is also a musician. After her studies at the conservatory in Utrecht, she started working for music school ‘het Klooster’ as a singing teacher and a choir leader in 2008. She also sings in the nu-folk band ‘Wooden Soldiers’ and as a contra-alt in the ‘40s tribute act ‘Charmony’.
